First Trailer Idea
The trailer starts off like any other romance. A young couple unexpectedly meet and there is an immediate spark. The couple then meet again on a night out and begin to get to know each other. Date after date goes by and they seem like the happiest couple in the world.
However, the spark which brought these two together was only one from a whole burning fire, which had been haunting this young man from childhood. This girl was the reason for his father dying, and the only thing driving him is revenge.
We see shots of her making herself comfortable in his home, after one of their dates. He goes off to make coffee, and she finds a photo album in his drawer. Immediately she realises who his father was, and all of a sudden darkness looms over the trailer. The mood of the film switches, and both the girl and audience question the man’s intentions. The man walks into the room and his personality changes in one facial expression, as he realises what she knows.
The trailer finishes on lots of very quick shots of him chasing her. It finishes on a blackout with the sound of her breathing extremely fast, and his face being lit up.

Change of Film Idea
After my group and I analysed our survey results, we decided to change our film idea. Before this we had been keen to do a drama with elements of thriller, revolving around to characters that start dating. Personally, I feel this was a strong storyline which could have been successful. However, our survey results suggested that this may not be the most successful genre to go down. Therefore, after a series of discussions we have decided to change our genre to comedy-fantasy. This is a genre which we have experience in already, and as a group we feel comfortable tackling this genre, knowing that people enjoy it.
Our film will now be based around one character, possibly two if we involve a love interest, who will be a real life garden gnome. Firstly, the most obvious of reasons, we feel this could be very amusing for the audience. However, the reasons for creating this character are much deeper than that. Are main aim for this short film is to create issues regarding social minorities, using are main character to represent them. The interesting best thing about using a comedic fictional character is that it can represent more than one minority group. It can represent all groups which are frowned upon in society, and show how this is wrong.
The audience will very much approve of this character, and therefore disapprove of behaviour which would upset or anger him. Consequently, making the audience disapprove of any behaviour which would upset or anger any minority group in society, whether it be the disabled, dwarfs, minority religions, or minority ethnicities. We are not only creating a comedic short film, we are also trying to send a warm and light hearted message that discrimination against minority groups is wrong.
We have also, decided to change to our idea from a trailer into a short film. We feel this will make it much easier to make our point about discrimination, and will allow us more substantial content regarding these issues. It will also allow us to create more comedic scenes with more depth and storyline.
