More males have taken this survey than females, and this will have an effect on the overall results of the film. Also, many more 16-25 year olds have taken this survey. Both of these factors will have an effect on the results; however it is still an indication of what different audiences want, and what a common response from all audiences is. Interestingly, the two genres which are the most favoured, other than the two most obvious which are comedy and action adventure, is thriller and romance. This is even more surprising by the fact that there was a majority of males who took this questionnaire. This gives me confidence that romance and thriller interest’s males as well as females.

78.6% of those who took the survey said that they would be interested in a hybrid genre; therefore I feel it would be careless to ignore this information and I will strongly consider doing a hybrid genre. Predictably, the majority of those who took the survey said they most commonly watch films with their friends. However, interestingly the second most common was watching films alone. This is very encouraging as you can almost market any film to someone watching a film alone. You do not have to worry about how people will react to the certain things around their friends or family, they can react to the film in any way they feel they want to. This opens them up to the film, and almost makes them more vulnerable, which gives you more access to their feelings and emotions.

Target Market
After reviewing our audience survey results, and looking at some similar products, I think it is clear that our film can appeal to many markets. We have not restricted ourselves with our certification, and can therefore target any age group or social group. I believe that our film would interest both males and females and most age groups; however the comedy may not appeal to all ages above the age of 25 as they may prefer a more serious film. I think that our film will appeal massively to social groups like the disabled and other minority groups.
I strongly believe that we can include humour that will interest all ages, however believe that we should target people under the age of 25 as they may enjoy it the most. Our film will have a lot in it that could visually interest children, and a back story that would keep the older audience interested. Our target market would therefore include the age range 16-25, this market is the largest of all the markets when it comes to film watching, and even more so when it comes to short films. We would therefore automatically give ourselves a greater chance of viewers, and as our research indicates that comedy is their favourite genre, we would be targeting the correct market.
This market is also much easier to advertise to as they participate on social networking sites and other digital technology, much more than any other age group. Many short films are shown on sites like YouTube, which 16-25 year olds are the most likely to visit and watch. Therefore, it will be much easier to get a response from this age group as they can leave comments about the film on sites like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace.

Certification
The certification we have chosen for our film is PG.
A PG should allow unaccompanied children of any age to watch the film. A PG film should not disturb a child aged around eight or older. However, parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset younger or more sensitive children.
We feel that we can comfortably restrict our film into the PG guidelines. Mild bad language can be used, which will allow for a small amount of adult language to create humour for that part of our market. Our film will not have harmful serious issues for example violence or drug use, therefore this is an issue which we do not have to consider.
We believe that by making our film a PG it will allow for a much larger audience. We do not want to unnecessarily restrict our audience when the content applies to all ages. We feel the restricted issues would not add anything to our film, and could almost undermine the main issue we are trying to raise.
By including a younger audience we feel that we can add humour which they would enjoy, as well as the humour which would attract adults. A similar product would be ‘The Simpsons Movie’ which includes humour for all ages, keeping everyone interested and engaged with the storyline and characters.
